The Island of Eilean Hoan lies of Durness, in Loch Eriboll in Sutherland.
Last inhabited in the early 19t century, Eilean Hoan, Scots Gaelic for “Haven Island” is now a nature reserve under the safe watch of RSPB Scotland. With its close proximately to land and threat of mainland predators establishing themselves on the island, careful checks are made to ensure all is well, especially with the Breeding Storm Petrels whose numbers are on the decline.
Ness Ribs supported RSPB Scotland to this effect by supplying a bareboat hire of our Zodiac milpro and additionally with floatation suits, VHF Radios and lifejackets.
