Ness Ribs were asked by AECOM on behalf of Network Rail to provide a safety boat and crew to allow for a rope access team to carry out vital inspection works on two bridges on the Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh railway Line.
Achanalt and Carron Viaducts are located in Strathcarron, they are very remote with no direct road access.
The experienced Ness Ribs team utilised a 4 x 4 to access site and then launched a shallow drafted safety boat down stream of the bridge before safely navigating upstream to take up a strategic position at the bridge. Due to the remoteness of both sites, welfare facilities were provided for the duration of works.
Despite COVID-19 regulations and strict site procedures the project was completed safely, on schedule and within budget.
